About the Dartmouth College Fund

What is the Dartmouth College Fund?

The Dartmouth College Fund (DCF) is the annual giving fund for the College. The DCF contributes significantly to the College’s operating budget by offering unrestricted funds to support programs and services not fully funded by tuition or the endowment. Gifts to the DCF provide approximately 10% of the College’s annual operating budget. Gifts can be allocated to 5 areas: The College’s Highest Priorities, Financial Aid, Faculty and Academic Programs, Athletics, and Culture and Community.

Gifts to the Senior Class Gift are also gifts to the DCF. Our goal with the Senior Class Gift is to educate our class about philanthropy, the importance of the DCF, and the needs of the College.

Why Give?

Dartmouth’s endowment remains the second smallest in the Ivy League at $3.4 billion (December 2006). Despite this, Dartmouth scores at the very top of U.S News and World Report’s rankings in undergraduate teachings and in the top ten among national research universities. Annual giving makes the difference, ensuring the highest quality student experience while the College prudently manages the endowment for long-term growth and stability.

The DCF and the SCG welcome gifts of any amount, although we encourage students to consider gifts of $20. We appreciate all gifts regardless of size. Participation is critical.

Where are SCG gifts going?

Gifts to the SCG will be used to support scholars in the Class of 2012. For every $1,000 raised, one student from the class of 2012 will be sponsored.

If you choose, you can allocate your gift to one of the 5 areas listed above. However, gifts made to specific programs, departments, or athletic teams will not be recognized.
